Hi! I'm Amanda. My days are spent between working in a retail environment, which I'm hoping I'll be able to take on a Doula Business full-time soon and trying to keep track of my kiddos with my husband, Josh. We have a 1 year old and a baby due in July 2013. My delivery went from a natural birth in a hospital to an emergency cesarean pretty fast. I'm hoping for a VBAC in July. My first birth made me aware that no matter how much I researched I could still learn more, and it has made me a birth activist. I love everything about birth and the amazing women that decide they are strong enough to take on motherhood.
This past April, after a year of learning and researching, I decided that I didn't want what happened to me to happen to other women. With my husbands encouragement I took my doula training with DONA. I have intentions of becoming a Lactation Counselor and a Postpartum Doula in the next year as well. I am currently looking to do certification births which will be at a reduced price with some extra paperwork to fill out. I'm really excited about being able to help women through what should be one of the most positive experience in their lives.
In my down time I love reading, hiking, and yoga. One day I know I will get a full 8 hours of sleep...but for now I'm ecstatic to have an amazing family that keeps me busy.
